SNAP I/O Gets New Modbus Brain Board

Oct. 1, 1998

With the SNAP-B3000-Modbus brain board, users can use state-of-the-art Opto 22 industrial I/O hardware with existing Modbus-compatible controllers. The board is designed to easily interface SNAP analog and digital I/O to any Modbus-compatible host using SNAP B Series I/O mounting racks and virtually any combination of analog and digital SNAP I/O modules. The on-board intelligence of the SNAP-B3000-Modbus offers many distributed control functions. And it communicates to its master controller via RS-485 using the Modbus slave protocol in ASCII and RTU modes. Serial communication is at a 300 to 115,200 bps rate. Digital functions offer input latching, 16-bit counting, and on/off status, and analog functions include thermocouple 16-bit fixed point linearization.
