As a fully electronic solid-state motor overload relay, the CEP7 provides speed and accuracy that is unmatched by electromechanical devices. It measures current directly through integrated current transformers that communicate with an ASIC inside the relay. The on-board electronics identify excessive current of loss of phase more accurately and react to those conditions more quickly than an electromechanical device. Setting accuracy improves from a 10% to 15% variance for electromechanical devices to a 2.5% to 5% variance for the CEP7 relay. The relay reacts within 2 seconds for a fully loaded motor and as few as 2 to 3 seconds for a lightly loaded motor.
