Operating at data rates of 2.488 Gb/s over single-mode fiber, the FTRJ-1320-1 optical transceiver complies with the Small Form Factor (SFF) footprint per the SFF Multisource Agreement (MSA). Since the part occupies much less circuit board space than its predecessors, telecommunications and networking equipment manufacturers can cost-effectively increase the port density of their optical transmission systems, the company says. The FTRJ-1320-1 is fully compliant with both the SONET OC-48 and SDH STM I-16 standards, as defined in Bellcore GR-253 and ITU-T G.957.
The device uses the company's latest state-of-the-art technology to provide exceptional data integrity and stability, including low-jitter eye patterns and exceptionally fast rise/fall times at temperatures from -10°C to +70°C, it's claimed. In addition, the device has power dissipation of less than 1W. A full metallic enclosure promises superior emission control.
