Monitoring and controlling shafts and other moving parts in automation systems, test equipment, machine tools, and other applications can be rather daunting. The M47, a synchronous serial interface (SSI) M-Module mezzanine card, can help facilitate this task.
The M-Module provides four 32-bit, RS-422 SSI channels, each capable of gray and binary decoding. Each channel is optically isolated. The transfer rate and word length can be programmed individually, yielding optimized performance. The card features a double-buffered, RAM-like interface. It also comes with a variety of other features, including automatic communication, sensor connection detection, line-break detection, and interrupt capabilities.
Built to withstand temperature extremes, dust, dirt, humidity, and vibration, the M47 suits industrial control systems in harsh environments. Conforming to the ANSI M-Module standard, the M47 can be used in control systems based on a number of buses, including CompactPCI, PXI, VME, VXI, and PCI. It can also be installed on a single-board computer or used in a standalone, busless system.
Driver software for the M47 is available for Windows, Linux, VxWorks, QNX, RTX, and OS-9 environments. Pricing starts at $420 each.
