The CAN Starter Kits from Janz Computer AG are a bundled set of products that allow the easy assembly of a CAN fieldbus connection. The kits offer a scalable CAN connection for ISA, PCMCIA, PCI or PC/104, CompactPCI and VME formats. All products can be reused within the real application. The kits consist of an intelligent host CAN interface card, a digital I/O field device and all necessary cables. Software driver libraries for WinNT, Linux, and VxWorks are also included, as well as sample programs and complete documentation. CANlook, a software package which allows evaluation of CANbus traffic, viewing CAN messages, altering them or using them for statistical purposes, is also included. Higher layer protocols such as CAL/CANopen or DeviceNet are handled on-board, so the protocols do not need to be implemented in the host system. The CAN Starter Kits are priced from $699 each.
