Compliant with the latest VITA 41.0 specification and requirements, the company’s five-slot, VXS switched serial backplane directly connects up to three node cards without the need for a switch card to run the fabric. According to the company, a VXS switch card is compliant with one particular data transport protocol or another, but this backplane can be used to test multiple data transport protocol end-point designs without the need to invest in multiple switch card types. With a 7U height, the backplane allows room for several power taps including 3.3V, 5V, ±12V, and ground. Additionally, the backplane was designed with anticipation for Pentek’s Model 6821, a single-channel, 6U VMEbus board featuring 12-bit a/d converters with sampling rates to 215 MHz.
