System-On-Module Series Balances COTS And Custom Solutions

June 1, 2001

Attempting to bridge the gap between using standard off-the-shelf computing platforms for embedded applications and custom platforms for large-volume ODM products, the System-On-Module (SOM) series provides a complete CPU system module that mounts to a specific-application board. The application board can be either user-designed or designed with the company's 30-day design-to-order service.
Two SOM lines are available: the 144-I/O pin, 68 mm x 100 mm SOM 144 and the 400-I/O pin, 95 mm x 114 mm SOM-ETX. Both lines offer modules with scalable CPU and chipset choices ranging from StrongARM to Pentium III.
