Tiny SBC Packs Plethora Of Features

Enlisting a 200-MHz, 32-bit Cirrus EP9315 ARM9-based processor, the Sphere single-board computer (SBC) crams a wealth of functionality into a 4" x 4" footprint. It teams with a proprietary peripheral-personality board and operates with either a battery or an external power supply. The board features a 100-MHz system bus, Ethernet MAC, three UARTs (IrD interface as an option), SPI port, LCD and touch-screen interface, AC'97 and I2C interfaces, and an 8 x 8 keypad scanner. The graphics and LCD interface supports resolutions up to 1,280 x 1,024. A memory and wireless interface supports up to 64 MB of 103-MHz SDRAM and up to 64 MB of synch/asynch flash memory. Operating system support includes Windows CE.NET and Linux with options for others. In terms of development, the personality board provides an Ethernet 10/100 Base-T PHY and RJ-45 connector, 3.3V power supply, RS-232 transceiver, real-time clock battery backup, and more including I/O expansion.
