Mountable directly on pc boards just as chip resistors and capacitors are, the U0402FCxxC Series of unbumped, bi-directional flip-chip arrays is designed to help protect differential lines on I/O ports from transient voltages. The transient voltage suppressors (TVSs) are available in a 0402-size single die configuration rated from 3.3V to 36V and can be used with R/C or L/C components to provide both TVS protection and a filter network. Th series meets IEC 61000-4-2 (EN61000-4-2) specs for air and contact discharge and has been tested up to 25,000 ESD volts. Price: $0.21 each/3,000. The flip chips are also available for use in dual (0404 size chip), triple (0406) and quad (0408) configurations. For more details, call David Hutchins at PROTEK DEVICES, Tempe, AZ. (602) 431-8101.
