Two-Headed Embedded SBC System Can Drive Two LCDs

Dec. 1, 2000

Allowing two separate LCDs to work simultaneously off of one 32-bit StrongARM processor, the Tandem single-board computer system is designed for multi-user applications. Claiming to have twice the number of features of most "standard" SBCs, the "two-headed" system has on-board two MediaQ MQ200 graphics controllers for driving two XGA-sized displays, as well as two 2-MB SDRAM frame buffers. And its dual LVDS drivers for LCD data transmission in the unit enables the displays to be located up to 20 feet from the computer.
Tandem SBC also packs a StrongARM SA-1111 chip that provides a USB bus master with a four-port hub, support for Ethernet and the CAN bus, and a comprehensive package of I/O, including up to 32 digital I/Os and 12 analog inputs and support for two 4 x 4 keypads. The Tandem SBC is targeted at retail and kiosk markets, with pricing starting at $400 each.
