Upgraded RF Design Package Sports Numerous Improvements

June 23, 2006
The latest release of Agilent’s ADS 2006A adds links to the GENESYS architectural software.

As the next major release of Agilent’s core high-frequency EDA software, the Advanced Design System (ADS) 2006A features design links from the company’s GENESYS software for rf architecture applications to generate complex system and circuit designs faster. Using these new links, designers can create an rf system, optimize certain performance characteristics, and start implementing devices such as filters straight from the system simulator.

New capabilities include WhatIF, an IF planning tool for rf system architects; Spectrasis, the only continuous-spectrum rf simulator with root-cause analysis; and Synthesis, eight design assistants that implement manufacturable circuit-level designs, such as precise image-rejection filters for rf boards. ADS 2006A also contains links to the Agilent Knowledge Center, an online technical support forum and support data archive. Other enhancements in the release include accelerated layout connectivity and performance capability for large monolithic mm-wave ICs (MMICs) and reticles, faster circuit and EM simulators that support 64-bit computer architectures, and system-simulation improvements that allow wireless designers to move seamlessly between RFIC/package/board design and test equipment.
