Compliant with USB 2.0, the USB+Power connector system combines standard USB contacts with additional power contacts to address applications where power requirements exceed the capabilities of the standard USB. The configuration provides an additional 3A of current-carrying capacity beyond the 1A maximum. An active latch on the cable plug provides a more reliable connection in comparison to passive retention. Board-mount receptacles are available in through-hole and mid-board configurations. The plug and receptacle are both keyed and color-coded, depending on voltage. Options for 5V, 12V or 24V are available. Prices for a standard receptacle and the plug kit are $3.52 and $6.02 each/100, respectively. FCI USA INC., Etters, PA. (800) 237-2374.
