Comfortable in benign and rugged surroundings, the NEXUS Forte 6U VME board supports PowerPC 7447A/7448 1.x GHz processors, making it a candidate for demanding signal-processing applications such as radar, sonar, signals intelligence, and image processing. The board uses a symmetric multiprocessing architecture that allows the processors to operate as a scalable resource managed under SMP Linux or as coupled multiprocessors under VxWorks. Highlight features include single, dual, or quad CPU configurations, a shared-memory architecture supporting 1 GB of DDR memory with a 2.1-GB/s peak bandwidth, dual PCI-X PMC sites, legacy VME support, Gigabit Ethernet, and ANSI/VITA 35 compliant PMC-to-P2 signal routing.
