The CHAMP-AV5 debuts as the company’s first P.A. Semi-1682 Power Architecture-based DSP compute engine. A 6U VME board, it enlists two dual-core 1682 processors operating at 2 GHz and a reconfigurable Xilinx Virtex-5 FPGA co-processor to deliver up to 64 GFLOPS of performance. Other features include up to 2 GB of DDR2 SDRAM with ECC per processor, 128 MB of boot flash with write protection, up to 4 GB of flash-based file storage, protected backup boot flash, 128 KB of NVRAM, two Gigabit Ethernet interfaces, selectable EIA-232/-422 serial ports, up to four EIA-232 serial ports, and up to two EIA-232 serial ports. Power management features include variable frequency processors, board-power sensors, thermal sensors, and a shut-off input.
