5 GHz WLAN Front-End Module Targets Smartphones/Tablets

Dec. 27, 2013
Front-end module integrates a 5 GHz power amplifier with harmonic filter and a SPDT transmit and receive switch for mobile/portable 802.11ac systems in a 16-pin 2.5 x 2.5 mm QFN package.

Skyworks’ SKY85702-11 is a highly integrated WLAN front-end module for reference designs targeting smartphones and tablets. Housed in a 16-pin 2.5 x 2.5 mm QFN package, the high-performance front-end module incorporates a 5 GHz power amplifier with harmonic filter, and a SPDT transmit and receive switch for mobile/portable 802.11ac applications and systems. It operates from a single supply voltage of 3.6 V, with an enable/disable function that allows power savings during off mode. An integrated positive slope power detector with 20 dB of dynamic range provides closed-loop power control within the system. Input and output are fully-matched and transmit gain is 28 dB. Specifically targeting WiFi-enabled mobile devices, the front-end module is also designed for use in SIP modules for embedded systems and WLAN-enabled wireless video systems. Samples of the SKY85702-11 are available now. Pricing is dependent upon quantities.
