ADSL Chipset Family Delivers Central Office System Solution

Including all the functional blocks from line driver to ATM physical-layer (PHY) interface needed to provide a complete central office system solution, this 8-port ADSL device set supports the full-rate ANSI T1.413 Issue 2 Discrete Multitone (DMT) ADSL standard. The chipset features a flexible, scaleable design that allows it to simultaneously support the industry's G.lite standard for easy-to-deploy, always-on, consumer-oriented 1.5 Mbps Internet access services. This versatility is expected to become increasingly important as telecommunications companies seek the flexibility to deploy a variety of ADSL services. Power consumption is limited to 1.9W per channel in G.Lite mode and 2.7W per channel in full-rate mode. The device set includes a companion ATM Utopia Level II PHY chip that concentrates 8 lines of data-pump traffic to reduce pin count and enable superior routability.
