Embedding an ARM7TDMI processor with firmware implementing the Bluetooth protocol, the MB86C00 and MBG011 ICs provide all baseband signal processing and protocol hardware required by Bluetooth radios. And they support a variety of external RF ICs, including FujitsuÕs MB15H101A, ConexantÕs CX72303, and Silicon WaveÕs SiW1502. And an on-chip Bluetooth-compliant Synchronous Connection Oriented (SCO) codec supports A-Law, micro-Law and 12- to 16-bit linear CVSD and SCO channel capabilities. The devices also feature a pair of popular host controllers: an USB v1.1 for PC applications and a 1-Mb/s UART for Bluetooth systems. Also on-chip are an IEEE 1149.1 JTAG port and a flexible analog frequency synthesizer PLL that supports reference clock frequencies from 8 to 32 MHz. MBG011 chip also integrates two Mb of flash memory, eliminating the need for external flash.
