Fully compliant with the USB 2.0 standard, the uPD720130 bridge controller supports data rates up to 12 and 480 Mb/s and is designed to consume low power for portable devices. The device has also received Bus-Powered Device Certification from the Universal Serial Bus Implementers Forum (USB-IF). The certification is said to allow users to develop portable storage devices that operate without an external power adapter. In addition, the chip supports ATA/ATAPI-6 and is firmware upgradeable.
