Touted as the industryÕs first chipset to operate at any rate and protocol from 28 Mb/s to 2.7 Gb/s, the AnyRate chipset is designed for protocol-transparent metro area networks (MANs). The set consists of a CDR (SY87721L), mux/demux (SY87724L), and a fractional N synthesizer (SY87729L).The CDR recovers data from serial streams running from 28 Mb/s to 2.7 Gb/s and the mux/demux is programmable to four, five, eight or 10 bits at rates up to 2.7 Gb/s. The synthesizer generates any frequency from 10 MHz to 365 MHz within 400 ppm from a 27 MHz reference source.
