Comm Processor Has Security Engine On-Chip

Addressing security requirements in the SOHO gateway and wireless markets, the RC32365 integrated communications processor features an on-chip security engine that supports current security standards, including DES, 3DES and the advanced encryption standard (AES). The device also integrates a true random number generator (RNG) to allow cryptographic applications. Offered as the first in the company’s Interprise Access family to incorporate hardware-based security-acceleration, the RC32365 integrates a 32-bit MIPS CPU core operating at speeds up to 150 MHz, a SDRAM controller, and two Ethernet MACs with standard MII interfaces. It also provides a 32-bit, version 2.2 PCI controller and a 16-bit PCMCIA version 2.1 interface. A crypto API, compatible with a range of embedded operating systems including VxWorks and Linux, is available that permits integration of users’ proprietary software with the processor’s hardware drivers. The processor comes in a 256-ball BGA priced at $17 each/10,000. INTEGRATED DEVICE TECHNOLOGIES INC., Santa Clara, CA. (408) 492-8314.
