A new Fast Ethernet controller IC is the final piece in the companyÕs adapter card solution for CardBus and Mini-PCI applications. The 78Q8411 Fast Ethernet 10/100 MAC controller IC, combined with the companyÕs low-power 78Q2120 trans-ceiver and 3.3V PHY, form the adapter card solution. In addition, when the recently introduced 78Q2131 HomePNA PHY is added, the company says itÕs possible to create a cost-effective PC Card or mini-PCI 1/10/100 Fast Ethernet adapter for portable PC applications. The 78Q8411 chip is available in a 144-lead TQFP package and is priced at $5.73 each/10,000. Design kits are also available from the company for mini-PCI, PCI and CardBus designs, with a complete set of software drivers. TDK SEMICONDUCTOR, Tustin, CA. (714) 508-8800.
