Fast Ethernet Switches Boost System Safety

Nov. 3, 2010
Expanding the rugged MIPIOS line of Fast Ethernet switches, the RS3 managed Ethernet switch and RS4 unmanaged Ethernet switch are built using a durable aluminum housing and robust M12 connectors with eight Fast Ethernet ports per switch.

Expanding the rugged MIPIOS line of Fast Ethernet switches, the RS3 managed Ethernet switch and RS4 unmanaged Ethernet switch are built using a durable aluminum housing and robust M12 connectors with eight Fast Ethernet ports per switch. The switches promise to increase system safety in harsh, mobile, and mission critical applications. Maintenance-free and fanless, the switches withstand extreme conditions and can restore themselves. If a link is temporarily unavailable, frames are sent via backup/redundant links to avoid data loss. A built-in test mechanism further ensures reliable operation. Other features include full- and half-duplex operation with auto-negotiation and non-blocking store-and-forward switching and a service port to give authorized users simple configuration options. Pricing for the MIPIOS Ethernet switches start at $1,553 for the managed RS3 and $1,148 for the unmanaged RS4. For more details, contact Stephen Cunha at MEN MICRO INC., Ambler, PA.
