Addressing growing demands for cost-effective multi-LIN transceiver systems, the four-channel MLX80001 LIN transceiver promises to reduce system costs of a LIN physical layer by 20% when compared to multiple single transceiver ICs in a body-control module, for example. Produced in 0.8-micron HV-CMOS technology, the device combines four transceivers, master termination resistors, and decoupling diodes on one die. For data transmissions according to SAEJ2602, a special low-slew mode is available. Other features include an operating temperature range from -40°C to +125°C, over-temperature protection, 40V load dump, LIN short to ground, standby management that ensures wake up from the LIN bus itself or directly from a microcontroller or other external source, and a typical current consumption in sleep mode as low as 20 µA. Samples are available now in a 20-pin QFN package. MELEXIS USA, Concord, NH. (603) 223-2362.
