GPS LNA Requires Few External Parts

Primped for GPS, ISM, and WiMax applications, the MGA-231T6 low-noise amplifier (LNA) comes in a 2 mm x 1.3 mm x 0.4 mm package and requires only four or five external matching components. The LNA relies on the company’s proprietary GaAs enhancement-mode pHEMT process to achieve high gain with a very low noise figure. Specifications include a noise figure of 1 dB typical, gain of 17.1 dB, and a shutdown current of less than 0.4 µA. Other features include a CMOS-compatible shutdown pin and adjustable current via a single external resistor. Pricing for the MGA-231T6 with variable current and shutdown features is $0.55 each/1,000.
