The MAX2769, described as the industry's first universal, single-chip global navigation satellite system (GNSS) receiver for GPS (L1 C/A code and P-code), Galileo, and GLONASS navigation satellite systems, achieves a total cascaded noise figure of 1.4 dB. Employing the company's SiGe BiCMOS process technology, the chip integrates a complete receiver chain including a dual input LNA and mixer, image-rejection filter, VGA, VCO, fractional-N frequency synthesizer, crystal oscillator, and a multi-bit ADC. This level of integration eliminates the need for an external LNA in passive antenna applications and also the need for external IF SAW filters. The delta-sigma fractional-N frequency synthesizer enables IF-programming with ±40-Hz accuracy while operating with any reference or crystal frequency available in the host system. Available in a 28-pin, 5 mm x 5 mm TQFN with an exposed paddle, prices start at $2.95 each/1,000. MAXIM INTEGRATED PRODUCTS, Sunnyvale, CA. (800) 998-8800.
