Will we see full wireless broadband capabilities for WCDMA (UMTS) networks soon? Qualcomm, developer of code division multiple access (CDMA) and other wireless technologies, believes they will come as soon as next year, thanks to significant milestones achieved by the company.
Qualcomm recently completed the industry's first HSUPA test calls delivering 2.0Mbps on the uplink, and it launched interoperability testing with multiple infrastructure providers. In addition, the company announced that 10 major device manufacturers are now designing products based on Qualcomm's HSUPA chip-set solution.
For WCDMA (UMTS) networks, HSUPA technology coupled with HSDPA technology delivers data speeds that surpass those of many home broadband connections.
