Multiprotocol Chipset Maximizes Throughput, Thwarts ESD

Oct. 8, 2008
The MAX13170E data transceiver, MAX13172E clock transceiver, and the MAX13174E multiprotocol termination IC form a multiprotocol transceiver chipset that supports V.28 (RS-232), V.10/V.11 (RS-449/V.36, EIA-530, EIA-530A, X.21), and V.35 protocols.

The MAX13170E data transceiver, MAX13172E clock transceiver, and the MAX13174E multiprotocol termination IC form a multiprotocol transceiver chipset that supports V.28 (RS-232), V.10/V.11 (RS-449/V.36, EIA-530, EIA-530A, X.21), and V.35 protocols. Exploiting the company’s next-generation BiCMOS process technology, the chipset is a pin-compatible upgrade for the MXL1543B, MXL1544, and MXL1344. However, the next-gen MAX13170E/MAX13172E/MAX13174E achieve higher V.35 and V.11 data rates, up to 20 Mb/s, and integrate enhanced ESD protection. The chipset operates from a 5V supply and across a temperature range from 0?C to +70?C. The MAX13170E and MAX13172E are available in 28-pin SSOPs while the MAX13174E comes in a 24-pin SSOP. Prices start at $5.13 each/1,000. MAXIM INTEGRATED PRODUCTS, Sunnyvale, CA. (800) 998-8800.
