Designed for use in fiber optic transmitters where laser diode operating parameters must be set using external resistors, the ADN2850 non-volatile programmable dual potentiometer has a temperature coefficient of resistance of 35 ppm/°C. This is said to be a ten-fold improvement in temperature stability over other commercially available programmable pots. The device also features a 10-bit control capability that provides enough dynamic range to accommodate a wide variety of laser diodes. Other features include circuitry that can be used with the receive detector to monitor incoming optical power on the receive channel. The device is available with full-scale resistance values of 25 kiloohms and 250 kiloohms. Applications include SONET, SDH, ATM, Gigabit Ethernet laser diode set-up, thermoelectric cooler controllers, avalanche photo-diode calibration, and optical power monitoring. Pricing is $5.50 each/1,000.
