Over a single antenna, the film bulk acoustic resonator (FBAR) ACFM-7102 quintplexer allows simultaneous GPS and voice functionality in cell phones. The device employs a unique, switchless design to optimize performance while abetting flexibility and simplicity to create ultra-small, high-performance mobile phones. It specifies a 1.5-dB insertion loss in the GPS filter path. By integrating the GPS filter with cell and PCS duplexer into one module measuring 5 mm x 8 mm x 1.2 mm, the ACFM-7102 enables the development of single antenna dual-band, simultaneous GPS handsets that are thinner and with longer battery life. The module operates in temperatures from -30°C to +85°C and is compatible with CDMA and WCDMA third-generation technology that supports speeds up to 2 Mb/s. Currently in limited release, pricing starts under $4 each in small quantities with general availability scheduled for the third quarter. AVAGO TECHNOLOGIES, San Jose, CA. (800) 235-0312.
