Expanding the Othello family of direct-conversion radios, theAD6539 GSM/GPRS includes all the features of previous Othello transceivers and adds on-chip VCOs. Two versions of the device are available. The AD6539L is intended for use with the X-PA family of power amplifiers with integrated power detectors/controllers and the AD6539, which includes a power control loop and supports third-party power amplifiers without integrated power control. Both include four LNA inputs, integrated power-management, a LO and the aforementioned transmit VCOs, fractional-N PLL synthesizer, and the full direct-conversion receiver signal path.
