Outfitting battery-powered products, the XR19L2xx series emerges as the industry's first devices to integrate an 8-bit UART and an RS-232 transceiver within a single chip. Offering different packaging and modem interface options, the single-channel series consists of the XR19L200, XR19L210, and XR19L220. The XR19L200 targets quarter-modem requirements for applications needing TX/RX signals only. The XR19L210 supports half-modem interfaces, making it compatible with applications where legacy-modem I/O is not needed. It also handles RTS/CTS signals for automatic hardware or software flow control. The XR19L220 suits full modem interfaces and can be used as a standard serial port. Operating on 3V to 5.5V, each device complies with EIA/TIA-232-F standards and supports standard serial port and Windows CE drivers. In QFN packages, prices for the XR19L200/ 210/220 are $2.60, $2.75, and $2.80 each/1,000, respectively. EXAR CORP., Fremont, CA. (510) 668-7000.
