The quad CAT5401 and CAT5411 64-tap, nonvolatile digital potentiometers are controlled over a serial peripheral interface (SPI) serial bus interface. Separate nonvolatile memory registers store each pot's wiper position. Individually adjustable, the CAT5401 and CAT5411 are offered with 2.5-, 10-, 50-, and 100-kΩ end-to-end resistance options. Wiper positions are automatically recalled during power-up. Wiper resistance is just 300 Ω maximum with a 3-V supply and 150 Ω maximum with a 5-V supply. Typical wiper resistance is 50 Ω. Maximum standby current drain is just 1 µA. Units operate with a single supply from 2.5 to 6.0 V. Both are available in 24-lead SOIC and 24-lead TSSOP packages. Lead-free, halogen-free "green" SOIC and TSSOP packages are also available. Pricing starts at $1.25 each in 1000-piece lots.
