THE MASWSS0091 single-pole, six-throw (SP6T) gallium-arsenide (GaAs) switch simplifies multiband GSM cell phones. Dual, tri, and quad band GSM phones necessitate a complex mix of transmit-receive (Tx-Rx) switches. With this single-chip SP6T switch, everything needed is in one package. Implemented with GaAs pHEMT transistors and having a 0.5-µm gate width, the switch can be configured in a host of ways to connect different GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900-MHz transceivers to a common antenna. The chip operates from 2.5 V. The transmit insertion loss is less than 0.65 dB up to 2 GHz. The receive insertion loss is less than 1.3 dB up to 2 GHz. The Tx-Rx isolation is 38 dB at 2 GHz, and harmonics are down −72 dBc at +35 dBm and 1 GHz. And, the MASWSS0091 is available as a die.
