2008 International CES, Las Vegas - Finding employment in a myriad of markets, the OV9710 takes its place as the company's first true high-definition (HD) video CameraChip sensor. Enlisting a proprietary OmniPixel3 architecture and a 3 x 3 micron pixel, the chip consists of a 1-Megapixel CMOS sensor and delivers full-frame HD video at 30 fps in WXGA (1,280 x 800) or 60fps in sub-sampled WXGA (640 x 400) with complete user control over image quality, formatting, and output data transfers. It reportedly meets all camera phone (1,280 x 720) and PC multimedia (1,280 x 800) requirements in terms of performance, quality, reliability, and power consumption. Image processing functions include exposure and gain control, white balance, lens correction, and defective-pixel canceling, all programmable through the serial camera control bus interface. Available in a variety of lead-free packaging options, operating temperature ranges from -30ºC to +70ºC. The OV9710 is currently available in sample quantities with volume shipping set for the second quarter. OMNIVISION TECHNOLOGIES INC., Sunnyvale, CA. (408) 542-3000.
