A new capacitive K-BEAM accelerometer series features a three-layer silicon micro-machined sensing element for steady-state and dynamic measurements. The 8305A extends the company's capacitive accelerometer product offering with three basic units having a measuring range of ±2g, ±10g and ±25g and sensitivities of 500, 100 and 40 mV/g, respectively. Weighing only 6.5g, the new accelerometer series is available either with single-ended or differential outputs. A completely calibrated sensor, this accelerometer combines a sensing element and integrated electronics packaged in an environmentally sealed, hard anodized aluminum, ground isolated housing. The sensors operate from a single power supply between 7 and 16 Vdc with 0.7 mA typical current consumption. They operate over a temperature range of -40 to +85°C, withstand up to 6,000g shock and 20 grms random vibration without degradation in performance, the company says.
