A new three-component force sensor is capable of simultaneously measuring dynamic or quasi-static forces in three orthogonal directions, as well as delivering an independent measurement signal for each direction. Designed with either ICP or charge output, the sensor is useful for a variety of applications, including cutting tool force monitoring, product quality assurance monitoring, modal analysis, engine mount analysis, biomechanics, and impact testing. The device is structured with a quartz sensing element for long-term stability, small size, high stiffness, and a wide dynamic range of 4.45 to 44.45 kN in the z-axis and 2.22 to 17.79 kN in the x and y axes. ICP versions utilize built-in microelectronics to convert the high impedance charge to a low impedance voltage. Charge output versions operate with in-line charge converters or laboratory style charge amplifiers. PCB PIEZOTRONICS INC., Depew, NY. (888) 684-0004.
