The Gas Discharge Tube (GDT) proprietary gas plasma devices feature fast response time to transient overvoltage events, translating into a much lower breakdown voltage and a reduced risk of equipment damage. The GDT devices can handle current surges up to 10,000 A while suppressing overvoltage transients. They feature low capacitance of 1 to 2 pF and high insulation resistance greater than 1 GΩ. Targeted applications include broadband, Main Distribution Frame (MDF), Central Office, and Access. Such applications include both data and power-source protection, typically associated with high-frequency circuits operating below 100 V. Available in both two- and three-terminal configurations, the line also offers a "fail-safe" feature that limits heat caused by a power-cross event. The GDTs are packaged in small-footprint leaded and surface-mount configurations. Pricing for the GDT family ranges from $0.35 to $5.80 per piece, depending on the device.
