Designed to address the sweet spot between digital still camera and high-definition camcorder markets, the OV9810 image sensor combines 9-megapixel photography with 1080p HD video on a single chip, eliminating the trade-offs between high quality still photography and high performance HD video. The device also addresses the convergence of digital still and HD video in emerging digicam applications. Employing the company’s 1.75-µm OmniPixel3-HS architecture, it delivers a low-light sensitivity at 960 mV/lux-sec. The OV9810 measures 10 mm x 10 mm and operates at 8.9 fps at a full 9-megapixel resolution and offers true HD quality video at 30 fps. The OV9810 is available for sampling now with volume production slated for the second half of 2009. OMNIVISION TECHNOLOGIES INC., Sunnyvale, CA. (408) 542-3000.
