The OV8835 with an enhanced OmniBSI-2 pixel architecture catapults OmniVision Technologies’ new CameraChip solution into the 8-Mpixel realm of performance
An enhanced OmniBSI-2 pixel architecture catapults OmniVision Technologies’ new CameraChip solution into the 8-Mpixel realm of performance. The OV8835 offers full-resolution, 8-Mpixel (3264 by 2448 pixels) high-speed photography at 30 frames/s (for zero shutter lag) and 1080p/30 or 720p/60 high-definition video with full horizontal field-of-view, which lends itself to next-generation smartphones and tablets. A 2-by-2 binning functionality with post-binning resampling filter minimizes special artifacts and removes image artifacts, thus delivering clean color images for HD video recording. The 1.4-µm OmniBSI-2 pixel offers a sensitivity of 1000 mV/(Lux-sec), which is a 20% improvement over the previous-generation OV8830. Other advances include a 20% boost in low-light performance and 25% more full-well capacity. The 1/3.2-in. OV8835, which is pin-to-pin compatible with the OV8830, fits into a standard 8.5- by 8.5-mm package.
