Multilayer Varistors Equipped With Sn/Pb Terminations

Sept. 18, 2013
Multilayer varistors with Sn/Pb terminations contain minimum of 5% lead (Pb) and operate from -55°C to +125°C.

AVX’s TransGuard and StaticGuard VCLD Series multilayer varistors with Sn/Pb terminations are specifically designed for applications that cannot accept pure tin components, especially within the defense industry. Containing a minimum of 5% lead (Pb), the varistors provide EMI/RFI attenuation and bi-directional overvoltage protection against transient events such as ESD, inductive switching, lightning and NEMP. Featuring fast response times to ESD strikes, multi-strike capabilities, high reliability, radiation resistance, EMI/RFI filtering in the off-state, and operation in temperatures spanning -55°C to +125°C, the multilayer varistors are suited for applications including IC protection, micro controllers, relays, I/O ports, keyboard protection, portable devices and radios. The TransGuard varistors are available in four case sizes (0603, 0805, 1206 and 1210), 16 working voltages (5.6 to 85 Vdc), 13 energy ratings (0.05 J to 2.0 J), and 19 clamping voltages (18 V - 150 V). StaticGuard varistors feature a working voltage of 18 Vdc, a clamping voltage of 50 V, and are available in three case sizes (0603, 0805 and 1206) and two energy ratings (0.05 J and 0.1 J). Current lead time for VCLD Series varistors is 20 weeks.
