Multiplex Switch Expands Flexibility In Vehicle Control Systems

Multiplexing technology integrated into Eaton’s latest dash-panel switch solution helps reduce the complexity and cost of harness wires in specialty vehicles, and reduces the vehicle’s overall weight. Reduced wiring creates more space in the cab, lowers system costs, and cuts installation time. The electronic multiplex switch increases flexibility and sealing ratings for buses, street sweepers, recreational, and other vehicles of that ilk. LED backlit graphics feature standard top, center, and bottom LED lighting. The module can incorporate customizable graphics or standard laser etching. Software furthers the flexibility with J1939 CAN bus-controllable dimming, mode, scaling, and flashing options. Eaton’s expandable electronic multiplex switch system, which employs a master module, can connect up to 24 switches with a single wiring harness using a three-wire interconnection between expansion modules. It connects together with Deutsch DT connectors. The module, available through Peerless Electronics, is designed to protect against dust and moisture for applications inside the cab.
