A new voltage controlled oscillator has been designed for portable radio applications. The V810ME06 generates frequencies covering 760 MHz to 860 MHz within 0.5 to 4.5 Vdc of tuning and has a 1.1 to 1 linearity over frequency and temperature. This VCO has a clean spectral signal of –107 dBc/Hz, typical, at 10 kHz from the carrier while giving the user nominally –4±1 dBm of output power into a 50_ load. While operating at a fixed temperature, the V810ME06 output power has little variance across all frequencies. It covers the 100 MHz bandwidth with an average tuning sensitivity gain of 38 MHz/V and operates over a temperature range of 0°C to +75°C. This oscillator operates off a 2 Vdc supply while typically drawing 15 mA and suppresses the second harmonic to better than –15 dBc. Measuring 0.50" x 0.50" x 0.13", this VCO is suited for automated surface mount assembly and reflow. Pricing is $15.95 each. Z-COMMUNICATIONS INC., San Diego, CA. (858) 621-2700.
