Representing the newest addition to the POW-R-BLOK line of power modules, the Underwriters Laboratories (UL)-recognized LD4 series is said to offer several advantages over its predecessors. The new devices use a low thermal conductivity aluminum nitride isolation material and sport a reconfigured internal construction. These features are said to improve the thermal conductivity of the power modules, allowing users to push for higher currents at the original rated temperature. Other improvements include a surge capability of greater than 30%. The series presently embraces three new devices: the LD41, LD42/LD47 and LD43, which provide voltage ratings up to 2,400V and current ratings up to 600A. Pricing starts at $210 each in sample quantities with delivery from stock to eight weeks.
