A serial interface has been added to the Series 970 Intelligent Quartzonix pressure standard, enabling users to switch between the RS-232 and RS-485 protocols. The switchable interface eases use by directly connecting the Series 970 to data-monitoring devices, such as laptops and PCs. This sensor is suited for use as a precision barometer in semiconductor photolithography, pressure calibration, and meteorological reference applications. It integrates a vibrating quartz beam and low-power digital electronics. Also, it has a fully compensated ±0.01% full-scale static accuracy and a resolution of ±0.001% full scale. The Series 970, designed for low-power consumption with a programmable sleep mode, will find its way into remote battery-powered applications. It's available in pressure ranges up to 500 psia, including a barometric pressure range of 11 to 16 psia. The calibrated temperature range is 0°C to 60°C. An extended temperature range of −20°C to 70°C also is available. The Series 970 pressure standard with the switchable interface starts at $2795.
