With an eye on multimedia 3G handsets and portable media player markets, the AH180 omni-polar, Hall effect sensor switch family operates with either magnetic south or north pole, eliminating the need for orientating the magnet's polarity during manufacturing. The components are available in three packages, SC59, SIP-3, and DFN-3, with the DFN package measuring 2 mm x 2 mm x 0.6 mm. The components are said to be the first generation of low-voltage, ultra-sensitive Hall-effect sensor switches developed on an advanced CMOS process. A unique clocking scheme is used to minimize the ON duty cycle, thereby reducing power consumption. Additionally, proprietary on-chip filters ensure that the presence or absence of magnetic fields is correctly interpreted and the ON duty cycle is properly minimized.
