Sensors Enable Full HD Video In Digital Cameras

Jan. 8, 2010
The 14.6-Mpixel OV14810 for digital still/video cameras and OV14825 for mobile applications deliver high-resolution still photography and full 1080p high-definition (HD) video at 60 fps.
Expanding the company’s image sensor offerings, the 14.6-Mpixel OV14810 for digital still/video cameras and OV14825 for mobile applications deliver high-resolution still photography and full 1080p high-definition (HD) video at 60 fps. Both rely on the company’s advanced 1.4-µm OmniBSITM pixel architecture to achieve optimal performance and sensitivity. The 1/2.33” OV14810 has an active array of 4,416 x 3,312 backside illumination pixels operating at 15 fps in full resolution, or delivering full 1080p HD video at 60 fps via a binning feature to achieve higher sensitivity. In full HD video mode, the sensor also provides additional pixels for electronic image stabilization. The sensors differentiate in chief ray angle, which optimizes each sensor for its end application. The OV14825 is also available in bare die for module integrators and both sensors provide industry-standard connectivity including LVDS, MIPI, and DVP. Sampling now, the OV14810/14825 enter mass production in the second quarter. OMNIVISION TECHNOLOGIES INC., Sunnyvale, CA. (408) 542-3000.
