Compared to traditional NiChrome and Calrod heater products, these new thick-film heaters are said to provide an integrated temperature control sensor that results in faster thermal response, better temperature control, and even temperature distribution. The devices are available in watt densities of up to 300 W/in.2 and provide thermal response times up to 30°C/0.1s.
Thick-film technology is said to yield low profile heaters, with the process adding no more than 1/8" thickness to the finished product. The heaters are manufactured in a Class 1000 clean room and can be produced to any CAD-generated, two-dimensional shape on various substrate materials, including 300 and 400 series stainless steel, alumina, beryllium oxide, silicon carbide, aluminum nitrate, and quartz.
