Unveiled as the first programmable, low-power timing devices optimized for portable applications, the VersaClock programmable clock generators reduce power requirements from 30 mW to 40 mW to 4 mW to 8 mW for a single clock output. Reportedly, they significantly reduce power during power down to 20 mW and 200 mW in sleep mode with a 32-kHz clock active. Five devices, the 5P49EE801, 5P49EE802, 5P49EE601, 5P49EE602, and 5P49EE502, feature four internal PLLs, each individually programmable and able to generate four unique frequencies. One of the four internal PLLs supports spread spectrum generation, which reduces EMI. Available in package options including 20- and 24-pin QFN, prices for the VersaClock devices range from $0.80 to $1.25 each/10,000. INTEGRATED DEVICE TECHNOLOGY INC., Santa Clara, CA. (800) 345-7015.
