Defined as a cost-effective interface for high-speed backplane applications, the Z-PACK MAX connector handles speeds up to and in excess of 10 Gb/s. This boost in speed is the result of positioning ground contacts within each connector column combined with unique lead frame arrangements that accommodate low cross talk and high throughput. The connector also employs a shield-less design combined with standard manufacturing processes, resulting in lower-cost component when compared to traditional shielded connectors. It is available in a five-pair version with 26 pairs per 10 mm and a four-pair version with 21 pairs per 10 mm or 53 differential pairs per inch. These configurations support 25.4-mm and 20.32-mm card-slot spacings, respectively. Volume pricing starts at $0.10 per mated line. TYCO ELECTRONICS, Harrisburg, PA. (800) 522-6752.
