A new valve position sensor has been designed for direct connection to DeviceNet field bus netoworks. The Ni 4-DSU35-2DNETX5-H1150 is a durable solid-state sensor suited for use in a variety of harsh duty industrial environments. Incorporating dual outputs, this inductive sensor is used in tandem with an actuation kit to monitor the position of rotary actuators. It has standard M12 eurofast connections to optimize communications speed for quick data exchange at the field level. A compact, low-profile sensor, it provides open and closed positions on most 90° actuators for direct valve control, and gives the user both a visual and electrical position indication. Mounting is achieved on several different actuator sizes without requiring additional adapters or spacer plates. The sensor is manufactured to the VDI/VDE 3845 mounting specification and can be used on valve stem heights of 20 mm, 30 mm or 50 mm with outer mounting hole dimensions of either 80 mm or 130 mm.
